Our group faced a significant knowledge gap. For some of us, this was our first introduction to writing code, while for others, the challenge wasn't in creating the website itself, but in teaching others. At the start, we struggled to find our rhythm. Our schedules were messy, and there was an awkwardness in working with new people. For the first half of the project, we operated as individuals, simply stacking our information together.
But as time went on, and with the excitement of design, we found more reasons to communicate. From discussing colors and fonts to figuring out how to achieve certain looks, the walls between us came down. We began to work more collaboratively, and by the end, we were one cohesive team, all contributing toward the same goal.
For future groups, we'd recommend taking a chance and connecting with that random person two rows behind you. Learning how to communicate effectively and work considerately as a team is key. Don't be afraid to spend time getting to know each other beyond the project. If we could do it over, we would change how we worked together in the beginning, especially as strangers.

As one of the first software engineers, she didn't just help invent a whole new discipline—she paved the way for women and girls everywhere to dream big in STEM fields and beyond. Her work in building reliable, error-resistant software wasn't just a job; it helped land humans on the Moon and set the stage for what software engineering can achieve today and in the future.
For those of us learning to code, Hamilton is more than an icon; she's a reminder of how coding can go beyond screens and keyboards to make a real-world impact. Her story shows that programming isn't just about writing lines of code—it's about solving problems, thinking outside the box, and having the determination to tackle whatever challenges come your way.
